Is a localized damage to the skin and underlying tissue that occurs when prolonged pressure, or pressure combined with shear, reduces blood flow to an area. This typically happens over bony areas such as the hips, heels, tailbone, elbows, or back of the head.

Poor blood flow out of the leg due to damaged or weakened veins. Blood pools in the lower legs, increasing pressure and leading to skin breakdown.
Poor blood flow into the leg due to narrowed or blocked arteries, often from peripheral artery disease
